Bird and Floral Carvings

Cindy Lewis and Mark Holland

I am sad to share that Mark’s Spirit left his body on October 28, 2021. Difficult to report, even though it has been over 3 ½ years. Mark was 92 years of age, but he still enjoyed carving nearly every day—just for fewer hours and a bit more slowly.

Mark and I shared 43 adventurous years, traveling the U.S. and Canada. We lived and traveled in our RV full-time for over 30 years before settling down in Chiloquin, Oregon, on 5 ¾ acres along the Pacific Flyway in the high desert area east of the Cascade Mountain range.

Recently, I have been re-photographing pieces that we had completed together and were exhibiting prior to Mark’s 2019 stroke. That event made us realize that we could no longer continue the lengthy travel required for the few Exhibitions we still attended, and in which we enjoyed participating. Mark had a remarkable recovery, to say the least, but his stroke created new issues that precluded sitting for long flights or road trips .

Currently, I continue to work on completing pieces for commissions [from very patient clients]. These pieces were carved by Mark and await my painting.

That said, we have inventory that is still available. I will be adding this work to the “Available Pieces” on this website.

As is true of the commissioned works, all pieces being shown have been worked on by both Mark and me, as our work has always been.
